Roberta Nicchia

Co-founder of Archintorno and Architect

Roberta is a graduate of the Architecture Program at Federico II University of Naples. She holds an International Master’s Degree in Spatial Planning for Sustainable Urban Systems and a PhD in Environmental Engineering. Her main areas of interest are urbanization and spatial planning in developing countries, with a specific focus on urban poor, urban informality and the role of local institutions within decision-making processes. She has coordinated Archintorno’s projects with Indigenous communities in Mexico and is currently the Coordinator for the European DesignBuild Kowledge Network (EDBKN). She has participated in slum-upgrading programs in Mexico City and collaborated with teams on the elaboration of spatial plans in the small towns of Caia District, Mozambique.
